SEA Screening Process for NPs

Has anyone from a local authority supporting a NP group produced a report for a screening opinion for SEA? What process did you use ie. did you take it through Committee or just Portfolio sign off? Any help would be really appreciated please as I have just received this Council's first screening request. Many thanks

Re: SEA Screening Process for NPs

Hi Wendy, We haven't yet got to the stage of producing a SEA Screening opinion for any neighbourhood plans. However the SA/SEA Scoping Report for the new local plan didn't go to a committee to be signed off before consultation, in 2007. In addition, when we are launching consultation on the Neighbourhood Plan boundaries, we are notifying the relevant cabinet/portfolio holder. When a decision is made on designating the area boundary this will be taken to the relevant committee for sign off/agreement. We have taken an item regarding neighbourhood planning to council in order to alter delegated powers to include things such as consultation on the boundary and other possible consultation such as the SEA screening opinion can be done without going through our committee process which can take quite a while.
