Development briefs training?

Can anyone recommend/suggest any providers of training on preparing development briefs for LPA officers? Seems to be limited specific guidance other than the 1998 ODPM publication and although there are plenty of examples, many are not particularly recent and/or there is no way of determining whether they are particularly 'good practice' examples or not. Additionally, resources are available from e.g. CABE/Design Council but again few are recent and none specifically deal with prepaing development briefs, rather there are many individual documents dealing with different apsects of preparing them...any suggestions fro training opportunities and/or resources welcome...

Re: Development briefs training?

There is discussion about the use of development briefs as part of effective development management on these pages of the PAS website. The case studies looked at how a good site brief can be used to reduce uncertainty for developers and also encourage the development of partnerships that can create a co-ordination of resources to get a site developed. Personally, I think that the characteristics of a good brief relate to the planners taking a view on what development they want to encourage ( to meet a whole range of outcomes and objectives) rather than taking a more restrictive approach and simply outlining the safe physical parameters - development that is sufficiently restricted and anodyne that it wont/cant offend.
