Live work units: LPA stance ifn the event of illness, retirement age reache

Hi, If you authority has live-work unit policies, how do you deal with: a: residents illness? b: residents becoming old? In the event of illness or age, would your LPA take any action? Would your reaction be any different If the residents employed local workers in the work unit? Thanks.

UPDATE: Planning Portal Model Conditions for " LIVE/WORK UNITS (1) The business floorspace of the live/work unit shall be finished ready for occupation before the residential floorspace is occupied and the residential use shall not precede commencement of the business use; (2) The business floorspace of the live/work unit shall not be used for any purpose other than for purposes within Class [B1] in the Schedule to the Town and Country Planning (Use Classes) Order 1987, or in any provision equivalent to that Class in any statutory instrument revoking and re-enacting that Order with or without modification. (3) The residential floorspace of the live/work unit shall not be occupied other than by a person solely or mainly employed, or last employed in the business occupying the business floorspace of that unit, a widow or widower of such a person, or any resident dependants." The 'or last employed' clause would seem to recognise that illness and retirement can occur and so enforcement to vaactate cannot be carried out in such circumstances.

Are live/work units covered by the proposal to allow conversion of office to residential? If so, will this discussion become a thing of the past (unless an exceptions policy is successfully sought)?

may not be a 'thing of the past' as you suggest given that the office to residential thing is only meant to last 3 years
