Multiple chocie applications acceptable?

The NPPF suggests that a large degree of flexibility & interaction is required from both applicants and LPAs in order to ensure sustainable applications are successful. Just wondering: how would a typical LPA approach an application which contained various design elements provided in a multiple-choice format? For example: "The applicants consider that an appropriate colour for the roof tiles could be one of the following: A: black B: dark grey C: light grey The applicants would be happy for the Planning Department to select their preferred option (if any) from the options listed." Notionally this approach could speed up application processing - or would it simply cause problems?
