I was delighted to meet Tom Riordan (Chief Executive of Leeds City Council) for the first time at the LGA's 2012 Annual Conference and even more pleased that he agreed to give an interview.
He's a social media giant amongst local government senior officers and offered some candid advice that is relevant to us all.
Despite many conference sessions focusing on the bleak funding outlook, his optimistic reflections on the resilience and adaptability of local government to respond to current citizens' needs despite the financial challenges were refreshing to hear.
