Purpose of this guide

Artificial intelligence (AI) is being discussed everywhere, and new advances using AI are reported almost daily. However, AI can be challenging to define – the term is used in a variety of contexts, and there is no single accepted definition of AI. The challenges around understanding AI present a barrier to its effective and ethical use in businesses and organisations across Scotland. To overcome some of these challenges, this introductory guide has been created to provide baseline information about AI. With this, businesses and organisations may be encouraged to better utilise AI, in a trustworthy, ethical and inclusive manner.
