This report summarises research commissioned by Historic England on behalf of the Historic Environment Skills Forum to investigate sector recruitment in the 2023 calendar year.

The project, conducted between March and July 2024, aimed to analyse the number and type of heritage roles recruited for and classify the range of knowledge, skills, and experience required for these jobs.

Included is the research report and the corresponding datasheet. 

The research was carried out by Preservation Matters Ltd and The Heritage Alliance , overseen by a project board with representatives from Historic England, Icon, and CIfA.
