Managing Principal Sources
Managing Principal Sources
All HERs link information held in their databases to a wide range of sources, including: fieldwork data, findspots and artefact scatters, and documentary sources. The wider data landscape has and will continue to experience exponential growth; this context makes source management a priority. HERs must consider what sources to include and how to include them. Providing access to original digital resources is a key issue to consider, with the need to improve ease of access, which is important for users, balanced with the removal of duplicated holdings, which is essential to reduce carbon footprints.
