The LGA Apprenticeship Programme provides support to councils to help them with the transition from the Apprenticeship Levy to the new Growth and Skills Levy so they can maximise their return on investment and tackle skills shortages in their workforce.
We work closely with MHCLG and DfE to help shape emerging policy implementation and review impacts over time.
The apprenticeships support programme provides a range of practical support and advice for local authorities and their maintained schools on developing and enhancing their apprenticeship programme.
Our support offer provides a range of practical support and advice for local authorities and their maintained schools on developing and enhancing their apprenticeships programme the bulk of our delivery is carried out online to ensure we can support councils effectively across the whole of England.
Our support offer typically includes:
- Advice and guidance documents on key policy changes, like the introduction of the Growth and Skills Levy
- Our annual Apprenticeships Survey of the sector
- Updates to popular tools and toolkits like the Apprenticeship Mapping Tool and our Maintained Schools Toolkit
- Development of Apprenticeship Pathways in key skills shortage areas to help councils with recruitment, retention and skills development in high priority areas like social care, engineering, planning, finance and digital.
