The Digital Service Standard for Wales shows what good public services look like in Wales, and how to achieve them. Also available in Cymraeg.

Use this review with your team. If you're leading the workshop you'll need to make a copy, share the link and then manage the process.

Tell your team members to spend a few minutes reading the 'What good looks like' and the 'anti-patterns' (what bad looks like) and then to take a star and place it on the coloured scale where they think they are as a service team. They should try not to be influenced by other votes! You may want to devote time to discuss why they chose the score they did.

You will need to find the average score for the area when your team move onto the next area, so you can draw attention to strengths and weaknesses at the end.
There are 12 areas to consider:

Meet user needs

  1. Focus on the current and future wellbeing of people in Wales

  2. Design services in Welsh and English
  3. Understand users and their needs
  4. Provide a joined up experience

  5. Make sure everyone can use the service

Create digital teams

  1. Have an empowered service owner

  2. Have a multidisciplinary team

  3. Iterate and improve frequently
  4. Work in the open

Use the right technology

  1. Use scalable technology

  2. Consider ethics, privacy and security throughout

  3. Use data to make decisions
