UDITE works on behalf of its members to encourage the sharing of best practice through joint workshops and collaborative studies. The European and International dimension is a vital component for career development and the work place learning. We encourage our members to learn new skills from each other and expand knowledge on issues such as Strategic Risk Management, leadership, policy development, finance and performance monitoring, collaboration and communication and project management.
UDiTE AWARDS PRESTIGIOUS COUNCIL OF EUROPE
ELoGE GOOD GOVERNANCE LABEL TO TWO NEW PORTUGUESE MUNICIPALITIES
PORTUGAL - 20th JUNE 2023
On Tuesday 20th June 2023 at Vila Pouca de Aguiar (Vila Real district) in Portual, UDiTE and the Portuguese association ATAM hosted the 2023 award ceremony for the Council of Europe's European Label of Governance Excellence (ELoGE). ELogE is designed to encourage good governance through a self-assessment tool that municipalities can use to evaluate the quality of their local governance. UDITE was accredited by the Council of Europe to run this programme in Portugal.
Seven Portuguese municipalities joined the programme in 202/ 23 and two municipalities successfully completed the programme. Vila Pouca de Aguiar and Albergaria-a-Velha (Aveiro district), were awared the ELoGE label of good governance during the awards ceremony.
UDiTE President Stéphane Pintre, joined Mayor Alerto Machado of Vila Pouca de Aguiar online to welcome participants. ATAM president Marcelo Delgado underlined the importance of good governance in local government.
Niall Sheerin from the Council of Europe and Maria da Gloria Sarmento, gave a general overview of the programme and escribed the self assessment process that the Portuguese municpalities had undertaken in recent months.
UDiTE's Executive Director, Ronny Frederickx and ATAM president Marcelo Delgado presented the ELOGE awards - the magnificent crystal glass dodecahedron - and the UDiTE certificate of appreciation to Vila Pouca de Aguiar and Albergaria-a-Velha the successful municipalities
