This session will focus on real-world experiences, lived experience perspectives, governance considerations and practical examples of how AI can support people who draw on care and support services, as well as the workforce that delivers them.

What to expect

  • Isaac Samuels, OBE and Debora Mo, Empowerment Awards Winner 2026, will discuss how AI can increase independence, confidence and opportunity, while highlighting why meaningful involvement is essential when technology is developed for people and communities.

  • Mark Ball, Senior Lecturer, University of Derby, will examine whether regulatory and governance barriers are slowing safe and effective AI adoption in social care.

  • Samir Patel, Founder of DigiHive and an adult social care provider, will share practical frontline examples of AI supporting administration, audits and evidence generation while maintaining high-quality care, workforce capacity and professional judgement.

  • Dr Jeffry Hogg, Clinician Assistant Professor, University of Birmingham, will lead a bite-sized learning session on how patient data is used in AI-enabled care.
